Dr. Renée N. Hale is President and founder of WellSpirit Consulting Group, Inc., ( www.wellspiritconsulting.com ), a firm that engages organizations to get well, stay well, and create positive futures. Renée is an Organizational Performance Catalyst with over 25 years experience in guiding individuals and teams, leading seminars, workshops, individual mentoring, and on the job training experiences. A former international representative for a non-profit organization, she also works fluently in French, and facilitates cross-cultural leadership learning. Dr. Hale’s broad worldview offers distinctive insights, innovative applications, and the capacity to see, understand and apply significant conceptual connections.
Dr. Hale holds bachelor and master of music degrees in violin performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; the Certificat d’Etudes Françaises from l’Institut de Touraine at Tours, France; and the Doctor of Strategic Leadership from Regent University, Virginia Beach, VA.

In addition to WellSpirit engagements, Dr. Hale currently serves on the Lansing Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; on the editorial board for the online leadership journal of Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY; and writes the bi-weekly column The Leading Edge for The Shopper newspaper.

Kari Ann Legg's legal practice focuses on traditional labor and employment law and corporate law. Before starting her own law firm in 2009, Kari Ann spent five years working in-house for a Fortune 500 Company and four years working in large law firms in Chicago. She has represented an array of companies varying from mom-and-pops to those with more than 15,000 employees. She has also represented clients in all types of industries including manufacturing, retail, food production, utilities and municipalities, among others.
With respect to labor and employment law, Kari Ann specializes in counseling employers and human resource professionals in all aspects of labor and employment law and relations, including counseling clients with regard to their obligations under the National Labor Relations Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Employee Free Choice Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Unemployment Insurance Act and other state and local employment statutes.

To this end, she drafts and reviews employment handbooks, policies and procedures; employment agreements and confidentiality agreements; and severance agreements and general releases. Kari Ann also counsels employers on how to respond to grievances. She further defends grievance and labor arbitrations before arbitration panels and individual arbitrators, and defends discrimination and wrongful termination charges before the EEOC, IDHR, IHRC and other state and local agencies.

Kari Ann further assists employers with proactive measures, such as performing wage and hour audits to ensure employees are properly classified as exempt or nonexempt for overtime purposes; performing general audits to ensure all employment laws are being followed; performing training for all levels of employees on various topics such as proper documentation, successfully handling grievances, leave policies and procedures and sexual harassment.

With respect to corporate law, Kari Ann counsels clients regarding the choice of the most appropriate corporate entity and the formation of the same; confidentiality and trade secret protection; and employee and independent contractor issues. She further drafts and reviews employment, consulting and compensation agreements; restrictive covenants; and business contracts. Kari Ann further assists her clients in corporate administration compliance including Secretary of State filings, preparation of corporate minutes and maintenance of corporate books.

Kari Ann was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2000. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Kari Ann received a B.A. from the University of Illinois and earned her J.D. from the DePaul College of Law.
